Lataysha Sumter is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Associate (LCMHCA), an Licensed Addiction Specialist Associate (LCASA) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Family Consumer Science with a concentration in Child Development/ Family Relations from the North Carolina Central University. She obtained her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Lataysha believes counseling may include healing emotional wounds, developing coping skills or striving towards improving oneself. Her counseling approach is client centered and is considered an eclectic therapist because she utilizes various modalities when working with clients. She strives to create a safe and empathetic environment where clients can freely explore their issues and work towards transformative change. She works with clients who struggle with substance misuse and alcohol misuse, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, race, gender or sexuality related stressor and mood disorders. She has experience facilitating intensive outpatient groups, providing couples counseling and seeing clients from varying walks of life.

Lataysha’s goal as a therapist is to foster a space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. She believes clients have within themselves a capacity to learn and grow from their own experiences as they develop meaningful, healthier, and happier lives. She believes in the power of a supportive therapeutic relationship to navigate life's complexities and unlock the potential for resilience and growth within each individual..
